frequently asked questions

Buyer Questions

Q. How often do you have these sales?
A. Two-three times a year. The spring/summer sale is typically held in March/April. The all-seasons sale is held in June or July. The fall/winter/holiday sale is typically held at the end of October.

Q. Are children allowed on opening day?
A. Yes, although it is very crowded, and the lines to checkout can be very long.

Q. Are the sales located indoors?
A. Yes. Sales are located in air-conditioned/heated buildings.

Q. Are there any parking fees or entrance fees?
A. No parking fees. Admission is free, but we encourage you to bring an item to donate to charity (soap, combs, powdered laundry soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste).

Q. Do you have a dressing room?
A. No, we will not be offering a dressing room as we cannot police it properly to prevent theft.  Please bring all measurements with you.

Consignor Questions

Q. Who can consign their items and become a seller?
A. Anyone can consign their children's and maternity items with JBF. We request that you have a minimum of 15 items or $50 worth of items.

Q. What percentage of the sales do I receive?
A. Consignors receive 65%-70% (depending on if you volunteer) of sales less a $6 consignor fee (deducted from final check).

Q. How do I sign up to consign?
A. Just click on our Online Signup button and fill out the form. You will recieve an email confirmation within moments.

Q. Do consignors get to shop before the public?
A. Yes, consignors will shop before the general public On Saturday, June 20th from 12:00PM-7:00PM. You will receive a guest pass. Your guest will get to shop from 2:00pm-7:00pm. Both must have presale passes that you will pick up when you drop off your items.

Q. Are children allowed at the presale?
A. Children under 12 years old are not allowed at presales*. However, we have made a special time slot for consignors who need to bring their children. Consignors can shop with their children from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Saturday, June 20th(with appropriate pre-sale pass). It will be very crowded, and only 2 hours, therefore children must stay with the parent at all times.  *Nursing infants (non-walking, under 12 months) are allowed any time.

Q. Are nursing infants excluded from the "No Children at Presales" rule?
A. Nursing infants (non-walking, under 12 months) are allowed at presales IF IN A SNUGLI OR CARRIER ONLY. We still strongly urge you to find someone to watch your precious child as your shopping experience will greatly improve without the added responsibility.

Q. Who does the pricing?
A. You set your own prices and you decide if your items are discounted on our 25% off and 50% off days. Check out our Merchandise Prep page for pricing guidelines.

Q. What percentage of my items can I expect to sell?
A. Most sellers sell approximately 65% of their items in sizes 2-10. For sizes under 24 months the percentage drops due to the sheer volume of merchandise received. People also tend to receive infant clothing as gifts, hand me downs etc. The older sizes (12-16 and up) also will sell a lower percentage as children become pickier as they near the teen and pre-teen years.

Q. How long should I give myself to drop off my items?
A. It typically takes about an hour to drop off your items. Your items will be inspected and then you place them in the designated areas around the sales floor. This gives you the opportunity to "preview" all the other great items that will be for sale at the volunteer and consignor presale times. It is helpful to bring a wagon to drop off your items. BUT, if you wait until between 4pm & 7pm to drop off, these are the times when the lines are the LONGEST for inspection and drop-off.

Q. When and where do I drop off my items?
A. The All-Seasons/Back-To-School Sale will be held at Camp Jordan Arena in East Ridge. Please CLICK HERE for drop off dates and times.

Q. Do you limit the number of any of the items that I may bring?
A. Not at this time. We have room at Camp Jordan for all your items! Your clothing and shoes do need to go through inspection. We are careful not to take anything that is stained/soiled, excessively worn or outdated. So, please don't be offended if we put aside a few of your items for you to take home.  Bring as many quality, current fashion items as you'd like. Your money making potential is limitless at Just Between Friends!

Items that are not acceptable will be pulled aside for you to pick up on your way out of Camp Jordan.  Please remember to take those unacceptable items with you.  Any items not taken during drop off will be donated to Bethel Bible Village.

Q. What if I have more items to bring?
A. As long as you registered online to consign by June 13th OR dropped off during the official "drop off" times June 17th-June 19th, you may come to the mid-week drop off on Tuesday, June 23rd from 7:30pm-9:00pm. This allows you to go home and get that "little spot" that you missed out of that adorable dress and get it back to the sale before the sale is over! If you didn't have your items ready during the first drop off, but you had registered to consign, this is your chance to get your items to the sale! (Only consignors who drop off during June 17th-June 19th will receive a pre-sale pass for June 20th.)

Q. When do I pick up my unsold items?
A. Items need to be picked up Sunday, June 28th between 3pm and 7pm. All items not picked up at that time will automatically be donated to charity. No exceptions!

Q. What if I work and can't make it during the pick up time?
A. You are welcome to have a friend pick up your items for you. You will need to let us know who you've designated to pick up your items on your sign in (waiver) sheet. Items not picked up at the designated time will be automatically donated. You also could choose to work during the sorting times on Saturday, June 27th from 6pm-10pm and take your unsold items with you at that time.

Q. Do I have to sort through the racks to find my unsold items?
A. No, when you pick up your unsold items, your hanging garments will already be sorted by Consignor# for easy pickup. As time and volunteer sign-ups allow, we hope to have all of the other items sorted, too.

Q. How long does it take to receive my check?
A. Checks for the Spring sale will be mailed by July 10, 2009. Feel free to email stacyervin@jbfsale.com if you have not received your check in a reasonable amount of time after that date.

Q. Will I know what items have sold?
A. With the new bar-coding system, you DO know what items have sold. You are able to print out inventory lists and track your sales. You'll be able to see which items sold, which didn't and what your check amount should be!!

Q. Where do I find safety pins and child sized hangers?
A. Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart are good places to buy hangers. You also might try a local dry cleaners or ask at a children's store at the mall to see if they have any extras. Dollar Tree and Dollar General are good places to find safety pins. You are welcome to use whatever type of hanger that you have available as long as your sizes under 4 are hung on child size hangers.  Please tug on your item after it's on the hanger to make sure that it won't fall off easily.  If it will, pin it to the hanger.

Q. If I consign my items, do I have to stay during the sale?
A. No. Consignors drop off their items & put them out on the sales floor during the designated drop-off times & come back during the designated times to pick up their unsold items.

Q. What items are you taking?
A. We accept anything related to babies, children or maternity. The clothing must be current season. For our sale in June we will take ANY SEASON baby, children and maternity size clothing. We will also be accepting new or nearly new gifts for all ages at our sale. Please package more fragile items well (padded, etc) because we have lots of curious children who shop our sale. Go to this site http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prerel.html to see if any of the items that you are bringing to sell have been recalled. Be a responsible seller! You will be shocked to see the large list of recalled children's items. Other great items are toys, books, videos, strollers, baby equipment, nursery items, large play equipment, bedding, cribs, changing tables, etc.

Q. What about shoes?
A. Yes, please bring only your BEST shoes. These items are easily worn out and will not sell if they are worn. Sorry, no WORN tennis shoes. Please zip tie shoes together or rubber band them if they don't have holes to zip tie. We want them to stay together. Shoes DO need to go through inspection with clothing. If you bring your shoes in a box, please do not put your price tag on the box! The shoes are often separated from the box. Please put the tag on the shoes themselves.

Q. What about stuffed animals?
A. We only accept battery operated stuffed animals (lights, sound, movement). Make sure to include batteries where necessary. If we have to replace batteries, we will be charging $1 per battery replaced.

Q. What is Mommy Mart?
A. Mommy Mart is a way for you to sell your (unupholstered) furniture. Check out our Mommy Mart page to see what we accept in Mommy Mart. No antiques please. We will also have a small Mommy Mart table for new or like new unbreakable items that mom's would appreciate shopping (decorative flags, gift sets, etc.).

Q. Do you have a volunteer policy? What if I don't make it for my scheduled time?
A. Yes, We have implemented a volunteer policy in order to prevent people from taking advantage of early shopping privileges, then failing to show up and volunteer during their scheduled shift. A $20.00 fee will be deducted from your consignment earnings for every four hour shift not worked. Please Note:THIS FEE WILL BE DEDUCTED EVEN IF YOU SIGNED-UP BUT COULD NOT SHOP THE PRE-SALE.
